Density Functional Theory: A great mistake?"

I will discuss the entire history of density functional theory, including both its incredible successes in many different fields, and its severe limitations. Despite being one of DFT's foremost proponents, I will show that much of this can be understood, and some failures rectified, in terms of a more direct approach to electronic structure theory.
